A graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in finance and real estate, Rei Umekubo maintains responsibilities as managing partner of Pilot Capital Investments, LLC. Outside of work, Rei Umekubo serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council.
Founded in 1953, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council (LAWAC) engages Southern Californians interested in global affairs through 40 to 50 events throughout the year. LAWAC brings in prominent figures in international relations to deliver speeches and participate in question-and-answer sessions. To date, LAWAC has welcomed eight US presidents and over 250 heads of state or government.
LAWAC also encourages young adults to participate in international affairs through its Young Professionals Program, which offers an affordable membership option that includes access to LAWAC speaker sessions and numerous special events, such as film screenings and closed-door sessions with notable speakers.
Also dedicated to local youth, LAWAC sponsors a High School Program through which a select group of local students attend the organization’s programs free of charge. Students even have the opportunity to participate in a private question-and-answer session with presenters at LAWAC events.
