Los Angeles World Affairs Council International Opportunities


Rei Umekubo is the Managing Partner at Pilot Capital Investments, LLC, in Los Angeles, California. A prominent and prolific businessman, Rei Umekubo also serves on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles World Affairs Council.

The Los Angeles World Affairs Council is a nonpartisan, 50-plus-year-old organization that provides events and opportunities for those interested in the field of international relations. The events hosted by the association often feature speakers who are prominent politicians in their countries. Some notable speakers from past events are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., President George W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama, and King Abdullah II of Jordan. 

Along with a host of opportunities for high school and college students and established professionals, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council also offers numerous international trips for interested parties. The trips are focused on countries that are prominent in international discussions and debate, and usually include opportunities to meet political figures of that area. The Los Angeles World Affairs Council has sponsored trips in the past to North Korea and Cuba. Upcoming trips are scheduled for Iran, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
